The Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) Live Yes! Connect Group will be hosting a special event, “Brain Fog and Beyond: Tools, Tips, and Support for Cognitive Challenges in AS” on Wednesday, 7/8/26 from 7:30-9:00 PM ET, featuring Speech/Language Pathologists, Shelley Slott and Paige Albor.

Shelley Slott has dedicated over 30 years to practicing speech-language pathology, working with both pediatric and adult populations across the entire continuum of care. Her extensive clinical background includes specialized experience in acute rehabilitation facilities, long-term acute care hospitals (LTACs), skilled nursing facilities, and traditional hospital settings. Shelley brings a wealth of deep expertise to the table, helping patients navigate complex communication and cognitive challenges.

Paige Albor is an experienced Speech-Language Pathologist specializing in aphasia, speech and language development, social skills, and dysphagia therapy across the lifespan. With a strong leadership background and a robust clinical work ethic, Paige has delivered comprehensive care in diverse settings, including inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, acute care, private practice, schools, and home care. She currently provides vital therapeutic support to both pediatric and adult populations through both in-person sessions and tele-practice.

Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) is widely known for its physical impact—chronic pain, spinal stiffness, and fatigue. However, the cognitive challenges—often grouped under the umbrella term "brain fog"—can be just as disruptive to daily life.

In this session, Shelley and Paige will focus on the connection between AS and cognitive challenges (specifically brain fog) and provide participants with evidence-based compensation strategies and practical tools to manage these challenges (i.e. memory, word retrieval, cognitive overload/fatigue, executive functioning, processing speed, etc.).

After the presentation, there will be time to connect with others. Friends, Family, and Care Partners are always welcome to join meetings.
